Kristen Holden’s professional career in the arts began in writing, yet she does not subscribe to any single media.
Works and projects include graphic design for political and literary magazines, electronic projection installation, paintings, photography, fashion productions, and poems.
Holden has been published recently in 580 Split, Mirage #4 / Period(ICAL), The Bitter Oleander, and Phoebe. She co-edited the “bookscape” Leviathan with Aaron Selverston. Holden was recently the creative director of the San Francisco fashion collective Missing Piece and is a sometimes very rarely is a fashion model.
These are not her real glasses, but they look pretty good, eh?
Holden received her MFA at Saint Mary’s College of California and her BA at the University of California at Santa Cruz in Literature and Creative Writing.
Artistic interests include: sexual discovery in girlhood, typography, collections & archives, mental illness, pornography, double-vision and urbanity. Among her influences are Myung Mi Kim, Yusef Komunyakaa, John Yau, Anni Albers, Merce Cunningham, Julio Cortazar and Leslie Scalapino.
Holden was born and raised in Chicago and now lives in San Francisco.
