The writing is rich, the coverage is international (writers and photographers are dispatched to over 50 countries every issue to deliver stories on forgotten states, alluring political figures, emerging brands, fresh forces in popular culture and inspiring design solutions), and the photography always incredibly fine (one of the reasons for this last accolade is that they still use film primarily…instead of digital photographs, so everything seems a bit warmer and more alive.)
And now they have a weekly podcast. Delicious.
Monocle Weekly, a 30-minute audio podcast. Hosted by Brûlé, the short-form show extends the publication’s monthly print content by offering fresh angles on stories in current and past issues, discussions, previews, field reports, and interviews. The light conversations on serious issues are entertaining and informative, and the old-fashioned stereo split of voices evokes the coziness of good old vintage radio.
